3 Important Ingredients to Add in Dog Treats for Sensitive Guts

My dog Riddick is a land shark. He eats everything he lays eyes on, completely disregarding he’s a big softy on the inside. My family dog Riddick has a very sensitive stomach. As he’s grown with our family, we found 3 things that really help with his doggy digestive tract:

  • Rice
  • Pumpkin
  • Cinnamon

These Riddick-approved super foods help him keep his stool solid and help prevent future sore tummies. If you haven’t met Riddick Zoolander yet, here are his top 5 loveable quirks. Prevention is better than a cure, so I create these gluten-free ball treats for Riddick to keep him regular.

Dog-Friendly Gluten- Free Pumpkin Ball Treats Recipe
  • ½ cup peanut butter, natural organic
  • 1 cup pumpkin, organic (not pie filling)
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 3 tbsp. honey (I used local)
  • 2½ cups oats (I used Gluten Free)
Directions
  • In a bowl, add peanut butter, pumpkin, cinnamon and honey; mix until incorporated. Add the oats; mix well. If the consistency seems to wet, add a pinch more oats.
  • Grab a chunk of the batter and roll into balls and place on prepared baking sheet. Do the same until no more batter remains. NOTE: I rolled my balls into the size of a golf ball, maybe a little bigger.
  • Place the baking sheet in the fridge to let the balls harder a bit, then store in the refrigerator in an airtight container for up to 3 weeks or place in the freezer for up to 3 months.

Quick Tip: Does your dog ever experience kennel coughs? Sometimes Riddick will choke on something, or the dust gets him and goes into a cough attack. My pro tip is to sprinkle a little cinnamon over their food and boom, I swear its gone!
